Dhalo:-

Quepem is one of goas still green talukas. This region is known for one of its orgional dance form of the Dalo. This dance is performed by the women. It is a reflection of the regenrative ability of the earth. The "tulas", a help of mud, that is keptand wirshipped,is symbol of our (mother) earth
The women stand in two rows, facing each other. Each row is called "fanti".Before the Dhalo begain, women place a brass lamp on a plank. The lamp is then lit in front of tulsi vrindavan, which seen when the Hindu s dance the Dhalo is notably absent. There song tolk of in-low marriage s and a visual description of these event s are shown. The right arm of  one women hold the waist of the women standing next to her ,while the left free.As each row will towards the other, their paths collide,at this juncture, the dancers bow down in a symbolic solution to the earth goodness .The blowing down is called as" naman".Men can not take part in this dances, with the exception of one man, who is allowed and is known as"bandhav".In this  group one is the "brother" who is said to be "Ramba" brother and only the brother, has the right and authority to come at maand and great blessings.
The dress of the velips and Christian s while dancing the Dhalo is similar. The Dhalo is a way of showing a heart felling with gratitude to mother Earth, for the produce it gives which helps feed the people and their livestock.
